When asked to comment on this contemporary work of art, the artist said: "The weather breaks over a range of dry hills in a rural landscape. When I was an ACC office solicitor in Hamilton, I travelled quite a lot around my district. This included trips through Rotorua to Whakatane, and this landscape is on the Rotorua/Whakatane highway. Sometimes I would stop and make sketches or take photos, and this painting was one of the results. The menacing darkness of the sky offsets the sidelight coming in under the clouds, lighting up an awesome piece of high country. I don't know that I ever saw it in weather conditions like this - but that is what art is about. " Frame Description: Spoleto Bronze
