Into the Blue (Dans le bleu) by Amelie Beaury- Saurel was painted in 1894. The painting depicts what appears to the view as a woman, tired from the day she just survived. With her cigarette in hand, her cup near her we get the sense that the woman is trying to cope. Her sleeve appears to be slightly rolled up her make-up is not done up like she is sitting for a professional, and we can all relate to this feeling. The shadows softly wrapped around the details of her face makes the highlighted details seem to pop off the canvas. The original is currently part of the Musee des Augustins collection.
