The stairway's special safety gate is designed for maximum safety and is made to be used with a baby or pet. This gate is great for all areas and ideal for the top of the stairs. This hardware-mounted baby gate features a latch system that baffles toddlers yet allows one-handed operation for adults. The included optional one-way stop bracket prevents the gate from opening over a stairway, providing higher safety and more peace of mind. The latch system on the stairway special allows for the gate to have the ability to mount at angles up to 30 degrees, allowing installation in unique areas and for mounting to offset studs in drywall. At 29.5" tall, this gate is adjustable and able to close off openings from 27" to 42.5" out of the box. Add the optional 10.5â or 21.75" extensions (models BX-1 and BX-2, sold separately) to increase the span up to a maximum of 64.25".
