Aluminum Clamp Shaft Anode, 1 1/8" by Martyr | For Boats | Boat Maintenance at West Marine. This aluminum clamp shaft anode, CMXC04A, is engineered to ensure complete shaft contact. Clamp insert ensures a tight fit for the duration of the anodes life. Bolt retaining washers prevent the anode from falling off and help with installation underwater. Stainless steel hardware and lock washers included. Fits shaft: 1 1/8" Outside diameter: 2 3/16" Length: 2 1/2" Anode selection guide: Zinc anodes for saltwater Aluminum anodes for saltwater or brackish water Magnesium anodes for freshwater only Advantages of aluminum anodes: Used in saltwater, aluminum anodes last longer and protect better than zinc. Used in brackish water, aluminum anodes are superior to zinc which can passivate and not work at all, or magnesium anodes, which corrode to rapidly. Aluminum anodes are also lighter than zinc and do not contain cadmium, a substance of environmental concern.
