Rita Addo Zakour demonstrates her creative skills with this elegant wall plaque depicting an African mask. The artisan names the piece Adjoa, which means "born on Monday" in the Twi language, spoken by the Akan people. "As a present, this mask is given to a mother who gives birth on a Monday, as a way of congratulating her for a safe delivery. This is mostly practiced by the Ashanti tribe," the Ghanaian artisan says. She presents the mask on a ceramic plaque.
