Description
This embellished mask is the creation of Ghana's Joseph Boateng. The artisan hand carves the mask from local sese wood, sands the surface smooth, then decorates the forehead and cheeks with textured aluminum and brass plate, and the image of a rhino. The mask is called Asempa, a Ghanaian Akan word that means "good news."
