Description

From just cruising the trails with the buds to extending our ride to the next trail system and beyond, the Santa Cruz Heckler SL is a super light e-Bike that fits in with traditional mountain bikes and can keep up with the full-power e-bikes. The new Super Light version of the Santa Cruz Heckler gives us a lightweight drive system that knocks the weight down considerably. The Fauza60 drive unit gives us 60Nm of torque, a 430Wh battery, and a range similar to full-power e-Bikes in a compact and quiet package. The Fauza60 weighs around 10 pounds less than a traditional e-Bike, which means we can have a bike that looks, feels, and handles like a conventional mountain bike but still reap the benefits that e-Bikes bring us. The Heckler SL has the same platform as the original Santa Cruz Heckler and sports 150mm of the renowned VPP suspension for optimal small bump sensitivity and a plush ride. Although this may seem like just a lighter-weight version of the same old Heckler, Santa Cruz updated the geometry to make the Heckler SL more capable. A slacker head tube angle of 64. 3 degrees allows us to be more confident on steep terrain, and a steeper seat tube angle of 77. 5 degrees positions us more upright for better climbing efficiency. In addition, a longer reach and wheelbase give us more stability in steep terrain, and shorter chainstays and standover heights allow for a more nimble backend and the ability to mount longer stroke dropper posts. Unlike the original, the Heckler SL only comes in a mixed-wheel setup, giving us the best of both worlds by combining efficiency and agility into one bike. The integrated chainstay and downtube protectors keep our frame looking fresh, and a shock fender keeps mud spray from the back tire off our rear suspension. When we need a longer, lower, and slacker bike for more confidence in steeper terrain, we turn to the flip chip in the rear shock link to make the Heckler SL more capable when the trails get steeper and rougher. The GX Eagle Transmission build of the Santa Cruz Heckler SL is fitted with quality components and an electronic drivetrain for pure fun on the trails. First up, this build uses Santa Cruz's Carbon C frame, which is built to the same standards as their more premium Carbon CC frame but at a slightly higher weight penalty. Next, SRAM's GX Eagle Transmission AXS 12-speed drivetrain gives us a huge gear range and a reliable component spec to keep us cranking through those technical climbs, and the electronic shifting performs flawlessly even under load. A RockShox Super Deluxe Select+ rear shock provides great small bump sensitivity to cushion our ride over any terrain, while the RockShox Lyrik Select+, 160mm fork, soaks up high-speed chunder like no one's business. Reserve 30 SL alloy wheels paired with DT Swiss 370 hubs give a top-tier aluminum wheelset that gives us confidence as we slash through berms at Mach speed. Finally, premium Maxxis tires provide us with traction and bite in the loosest conditions so we can focus on our ride and not worry about sliding out.*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
