Description
This panorama of Hong Kong was taken by James Blakeway. The area across Victoria Harbor on the left is known as Kowloon and to the right is downtown Hong Kong. Centered in downtown, with its pyramid shaped roof and single spire, is the 78-story Central Plaza. The tall building centered in the photograph, with its two white antennae, is Bank of China Tower. Hong Kong was taken by the British Empire in the 19th Century and handed back to China in 1997. It is now a Special Administrative Region in the People's Republic of China. Hong Kong is a major seaport, financial center and business hub.
