Description
This panoramic photograph of Perth was taken by Christopher Gjevre. Featured is downtown Perth, Western Australia's capital city, as seen looking across the Swan River. It's a vibrant, modern city that was claimed by England in 1829. The colony's difficulties included a shortage of labor, so the British government sent convicts to assist with development. The 741-foot Central Park Tower with its brightly lit roof structure is centered in the panorama and is Perth's tallest building. To its right is the 52-story Bankwest Tower. Further to the right is the Bell Tower, which is identifiable in the photograph as the tall, thin structure beside the ferry docks.
