What is a a giclée print?
Giclée, pronounced (zhee-CLAY), is a French term meaning "to spray", which is how an inkjet printer works. However, the printers we use are not the same as standard desktop printers. They are much larger and more precise instruments.
A giclée is an individually produced, high-resolution, high-fidelity, color-accurate reproduction with all the hues and tonalities of the original painting. In giclée printing, no screen or other mechanical devices are used, so there is no visible dot screen pattern.
The giclées are printed with archival (fade-resistant) inks on heavy, archival (non-yellowing) substrates specifically designed for giclée prints.
