Description
Thanks to the craftsmanship of the artists at Pennsylvania Firebacks, the usefulnes and charms of the fireback have been rediscovered and revived! Steeped in tradition and excellent construction, the fireback protects the masonry of the fireplace wall and radiates heat and light of the fire out into the room. By reflecting the light and heat out from the fire, a fireback makes a noticeable improvement to your hearth. This warmth can be gained whether using traditional wood fires or remoted controlled gas log units. Firebacks are shipped with a water base black paint to prevent rust build up during transit. To give a brighter finish to the fireback and to protect the casting from rust after use with a fire, an application of water base graphite stove polish is recommended. Applied with a toothbrush or rag, this paste, when dry, can be polished with a wire brush or rag giving the fireback an attractive silverfish sheen. The Pennsylvania Firebacks North Star Cast Iron Fireback joins both nature and history together in one beautiful piece. Although not the brightest star in the night sky, the North Star is unique in that it is almost perfectly aligned with the earth's axis which means that it remains in very nearly the same spot above the northern horizon year-round while the other stars circle around it each day. The Rule of the North Star inch states that to find Polaris, follow the gaze of the moon. The moon faces the pointer stars in the bowl of the Big Dipper. Once they are located, shift your gaze from the pointer stars to find the first star in the handle of the Little Dipper. Just as the North Star is a fixture in our northern sky, this fireback can be a fixture of your hearth!
