Vaccinium ovatum - Evergreen Huckleberry - 1 Year Old Potted Plants Evergreen huckleberries, a broadleaf evergreen shrub, native to the Pacific coastal forests offers a beautiful compact shrub & tasty berries. Will be 4 foot tall & wide if grown in full sun & up to 10 foot tall if grown in full shade & not pruned. in hotter climates, full or afternoon shade is required. Likes an acidic, slightly moist, well drained soil & regular water similar to what blueberries like. Grows in USDA Zones 7-9 & Zone 6 with wind protection. Small pinkish white flowers emerge in spring, followed by berries that turn red in summer before ripening to a dark blue-black color in the Fall. Flowers are enjoyed by bees & butterflies. Berries are favorite of humans, birds, & numerous wildlife. Our plants are grown from disease free tissue culture stock. They are potted plants, not bare root plants that have been dug up in the wild. The evergreen leaves & branches are used in floral arrangements & to make huckleberry leaf tea.
