Description
Rare Vintage Double Cola Bottle Cap, Chattanooga, Tennessee 1980s This is a very unique cap as it is the only one of this style I have seen available that was labeled on the side with Chattanooga & the Double Cola Company. There was a find of this style bottle cap at the abandoned Jefferson, NC plant but they were clearly marked from NC & Dr Pepper Bottling which puts that find from the 1990s & most of the caps out there of this style are from that find. This is one you will want to get in your collection while I have them available as it is unlikely we will see these again. This company was started in 1933 & was called Double Cola because its 12 OZ bottles were twice the size of competitors. They were also the first company to use 16 OZ bottles. A very interesting history they had a chance to knock off one of their big competitors during WW2 as they had an opportunity to purchase the Pepsi Brand, because of sugar rationing putting a financial crush on Pepsi, but they decided not to. Just imagine how history would have changed if they had. We would all be drinking RC Cola & Double Cola as the two kings of soft drinks instead of Pepsi & Coke if history had gone a little different.
