You are consuming the very best honeybee specimens a beehive produces. This extract is made from young healthy nurse bees in the height of the summer & into the early autumn. These bees are in prime health & vigor when they were collected. Traditionally, old bees which die over the winter are collected in early spring from the beehives. Those bees died in various stages of decrepitude or illness. I collect bees differently. Beekeepers must take samples of young honeybees during the active season to monitor for honeybee parasites. The monitoring protocol, known as an 'Alcohol Wash', requires the killing of about 300 honeybees at a time. Each beehive is sampled 3-4 times a year, which kills about 900-1200 honeybees.
