Due to the complexities of refining aluminum from ore, aluminum was considered more valuable than gold or silver through most of the 1800s. in the early 1900s the refinement was simplified, & aluminum became an inexpensive material. in the religious world, this meant that small devotionals were obtainable by anyone, even if they could not afford precious metals. Most of the aluminum pieces we offer for sale are extremely vintage, even antique. Some bear the original foundry markings, & most have come from Europe. Aluminum is lovely for its durability & ability to hold intricate detail.
