Description

The cased caddis is another example of an incredibly prolific bug that tends to be ignored by an astounding amount of anglers. These caddis larvae build a case with silk & bits of debris from the bottom to create a nice little sheath to hang out in. They are an extremely common source of food for trout year-round & are especially important in the winter when the pickings get slim. Try this as a point fly in tandem with one or two other flies. This fly has a large tungsten bead, & a lead-free wire underbody, making it sink quickly. I use turkey tail for the case imitation, counter-wrapped with red wire for durability. I use UV caddis green ice dub, UV light Olive or Dark Olive for the peeking-out head of the insect with an ostrich herl for legs. You can specify which shade you'd like to match your local caddis varieties. I can tie this is sizes #10 - #16 on 60 degree, barbless, black nickel jig hooks. Let me know if you would prefer a 1x short jig for a smaller bug. I can do those in #10-#18. A jig hook is especially helpful with a big, heavy fly like this one. You'll be less prone to snagging, because it rides hook point up most of the time. Barbless jigs are much easier to remove from a fish, as well. This listing is for 4 flies.
