Art Deco Mantle Clock Set With Exotic Birds By Amc

Date: ca. 1920 A very elegant & rare ceramic mantle clock set (aka 'Garniture de cheminée). The main piece housing the clock, is a little wider & taller than the two ornamental side pieces. All three are of white glazed ceramic, have an arched pediment above two 3-dimensional columns, & a colourful exotic bird (or is it a pheasant?) in high relief. A floral relief décor & gilding also adorns each piece. Only the fronts have been decorated. The clock face is a kind of paper. There are marks to the base: the AMC makers mark & the model number 162 AMC stands for the Faiencerie (earthenware manufacturer) of Auguste Mouzin & Cie located in Wasmuël, Belgium. It was active between 1878 & 1951. The faiencerie was especially known for its ornamental wares in the Art Deco style, for instance clocks of which this one is a good example. Condition: Good. There is no damage at all to the earthenware body. The paint work on the birds is vibrant. The gilding has thinned considerably on the borders & flowers. The clock mechanism is currently not operational but seeing as all parts are present, it should (in principle) be made to work again after a servicing. Dimensions: Central piece: 31.8 cm high, 22.5 cm wide, 8 cm deep, 1.7 kg Side pieces: 28.5 cm high, 14 cm wide, 6 cm deep, 1.0 kg each Shipment Note: Please contact me should you wish to buy more than one item so that I can amend the combined shipment price for you. The lowest shipment category is for a total weight of 0-5 kg (boxes & wrapping included) & so several smaller items can be shipped for that one price (for example 35 euro to the USA for several small items). The next weight/ price category is 5-10 kg. Art Deco Mantle Clock Set With Exotic Birds By Amc
