Nashville-An Original Vintage Movie Poster of Robert Altman's American Political Satire with Shelley Duvall, Jeff Goldblum, Keith Carradine, & Lily Tomlin. Over the course of a few hectic days, numerous interrelated people prepare for a political convention. According to the movie poster tagline, NASHVILLE is "the damnedest thing you ever saw" & it IS one of those rare films that completely defy description. The movie follows some twenty characters over the course of several days. Some lives collide & some don't as they have moments of success & failure, & the hypocrisy of American culture is explored. "Nashville" juxtaposes images of American patriotism & politics at their most vulgar, & in the process makes an incredibly funny, & savage statement on the superficial values that plague our society. Altman refuses to direct our attention within any single scene. Conversations overlap & so much goes on in every shot we are forced to decide what to pay attention to & what to ignore. The result is a vibrant & rich tapestry of American life & it's safe to say that every person who sees it, comes away with a different story. Robert Altman's masterpiece is an endlessly fascinating mirror in which we see the energy of life itself scattered, gathered, & reflected back to us. This is a thoroughly American work that stands up to & benefits from multiple viewings like a great novel that longs to be read again. Lithographs with light creasing at folds are common for posters of this era as they were mailed to theaters folded (See Photo detail). The poster is a rare "Teaser" with no cast credits. This is one of my personal favorites as the movie & poster are united in imagery & tone. Very special!
