Description

Antique EDWARD TODD Retractable Telescoping Pencil. Made of Vulcanite & 14k Gold. Vintage Victorian Pencil Circa 1900. Scarce. SIZE: Retracted= 3.25" long Open: About 4.5" ONE END CAP unscrews, & will hold extra leads (not included). THE OTHER end unscrews, & automatically expands in size by the twisting action. ABOUT THE GOLD: It is NOT MARKED as gold. We tested the end pieces, & it tested as 14k gold. I believe it is just a thin coating on each end, see photos. It does not amount to much in terms of weight, but it is a nice touch to this unusual pencil / lead holder. Pencils from the Edward Todd Company are scarce. Normally one finds dip pens. The company made very high quality implements.
