Pack of 10 Vintage Unused US Postage stamps of the: 3 cent Panama Canal stamp. Issued August 15, 1939 Scott catalog #: 856 The 3¢ 1939 commemorative marked the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the project. Endorsed by Theodore, the Canal’s construction was led by Army officer & engineer George Washington Goethals. Goethals finished the canal in 1914 – two years before its projected target date. Both men are featured on U.S. #856. Also seen on the stamp is the "Gaillard Cut" – an artificial valley dug through the continental divide. It was vital in linking the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans, & was regarded as one of the greatest engineering accomplishments of its era. 10 Mint unused postage stamps with original gum as issued by the Post Office. These stamps are genuine & valid to use as postage for current mailing. Be sure to use enough total postage to meet the current postage rate for mailing a letter if you want to use them for mailing. Also good to use for scrapbooking or displaying in a small picture frame. It's a miniature work of art.
