The frame & mount shown are not included. in 1959 John's Aunt Mimi helped purchase his Hofner Club 40 just before The Quarry Men's first Casbah performance. It probably qualifies as his first professional guitar & proved tough enough to survive as John's main instrument as The Silver Beatles made their way to Hamburg. This Rickenbacker 325 Capri is the one most associated with John Lennon through the years. Purchased in 1960 & used exclusively for the next four years, this is the guitar John was using when The Beatles made their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Finished in natural wood with a white pickguard & Kauffman Vibrola tailpiece, this was John's first 325. Following the group's second visit to Hamburg in 1961, John had a Bigsby vibrato & bow tie bridge fitted, then by 1963 the 325 was painted gloss black & fitted with a gold pickguard & a set of Hofner control knobs. in the 1970's the guitar was returned to its natural wood finish & had a white pickguard fitted as illustrated here. John's second 325 Capri was made specifically to replace his road weary 1958 model & was delivered in February 1964, just in time to be used on their second live appearance on American TV as an estimated 70 million viewers tuned in to watch The Ed Sullivan Show. John purchased this Epiphone Casino in 1966 & used it as his main instrument during the remainder of his time with The Beatles. The pickguard was removed & the body sanded to bare wood whilst recording The White Album in 1968. Size 841mm x 594mm (33.1" x 23.4") John Lennon's Guitars - Poster Print A1 Size
