The Salt River Bat House is handcrafted from rustic Cedar & designed as a safe haven for this fascinating flying mammal. Insect Control? Every night, the average bat consumes its body weight in insects. They can eat up to 1200 mosquitoes an hour! Handsome construction with Cedar shake shingles on front & bat-like scalloped edged bottom. Properly ventilated. Single Interior Chamber has multiple strips of wood for the bats to hang on. Landing Pad Hand-painted Bat picture on front clearly identifies what box is used for. Dimensions: 13.5"W (at roof) x 4"D (at roof) x 18"H (the interior of the box is approx. 1 1/2" D.) Weighs: 4 lbs. Bats prefer their house to be at least 12 feet off the ground. Bats prefer their house mounted on a building, NOT attached to a tree because of predators & also limbs get in the way of their flying in & out. Place your Bat House in an area that gets at least 6-8 hours of sunlight daily. Did you Know? There are some 40 species of bats in the US.
