Description
Deep purple amethyst gemstone ring. This very special sterling silver ring is a size 7 1/2. I produced this unique vintage design using old, hand working techniques. The motif is a vintage Art Nouveua filagree design. The design was an original that was reproduced in a solid steel die. I pressed annealed sterling silver into the die with repeated cycles of annealing & trimming. Using tons of pressure, hand controlled, the design was pressed into the silver. Then the piece was trimmed & formed into a ring. I pierced the gallery using hand sawing. This was composed of multiple pieces, each hand crafted & then combined. The golden hue is a classic patina added using liver of sulphur. I set a nice 6 x 8 amethyst. This is how rings were made before casting was routine. Labor intensive, hands-on crafts-person ship. It is a classic, the hand fabrication is apparent & a part of the piece. This design is a classical beauty. Destined to be a favorite. I do not typically resize rings.
