Description
A 1915 print featuring the Warbling Vireo, Red & White Eyed Vireo, Yellow-Throated, Philadelphia, & Blue Headed Vireo, at 1/2 their natural size. This is an original antique print released in 1915 as part of a collection published by The University of the State of New York State Museum. This illustration done by famed ornithologist & artist Louis Agassiz Fuertes is in excellent condition. Overall measurements are 12" x 9". When determining the condition of the print, I am considering the entire page minus 1/4" from the side edges, to allow for fold-lines (see photos). That leaves a displayable area of 12" x 8.5". Please contact me if you need any other measurements that may aid you in framing. Below is the description of the collection from this original portfolio: "This series of 106 plates are reprints from the plates used in the work entitled 'Birds of New York,' issued as volumes 1 & 2 of the New York State Museum Memoir 12. These plates carry the names of the birds represented & include all of the birds known to breed within or to visit the State of New York. The full descriptive account of these birds & general accounts of the importance of the birds to the people of the State are to be found in the volumes from which these plates have been extracted & if further information is desired concerning these volumes application may be made to the Director of the State Museum."
