Description
A 1915 print featuring the Wood, Hermit, Gray-Cheeked, & Olive Backed Thrush, & the Veery at 1/2 their natural size. This is an original antique print released in 1915 as part of a collection published by The University of the State of New York State Museum. This illustration is done by famed ornithologist & artist Louis Agassiz Fuertes. Overall measurements are 12" x 9". There is a water stain on the top edge, as seen in photos. Because of this, for framing purposes, the top text line "BIRDS OF NEW YORK" could not be displayed without the stain being seen. Please contact me if you need any other measurements that may aid you in framing. Below is the description of the collection from this original portfolio: "This series of 106 plates are reprints from the plates used in the work entitled 'Birds of New York,' issued as volumes 1 & 2 of the New York State Museum Memoir 12. These plates carry the names of the birds represented & include all of the birds known to breed within or to visit the State of New York. The full descriptive account of these birds & general accounts of the importance of the birds to the people of the State are to be found in the volumes from which these plates have been extracted & if further information is desired concerning these volumes application may be made to the Director of the State Museum."
