Antique W. T. Co Apothecary Bottle Whitall Tatum Co 1901-1920 A rare, antique apothecary bottle from Whitall Tatum Company. Clear glass, with a cut glass fitted stopper that fits snugly. 7.5" tall & 4" in diameter. Has the trademark W.T. Co. on the bottom. The bottle is over 100 years old & in excellent condition. Minor residue on bottle from original sticker. Please read below for the company & bottle history. The Whitall Tatum Company or Whitall Tatum (1806-1938) was one of the first glass factories in the United States. It was located in Millville, New Jersey, & operated from 1806 to 1938. It was founded by James Lee, & in 1838, John M. Whitall became a partner. in 1845, after his brother Israel Franklin Whitall joined, the firm became Whitall, Brother & Company. Edward Tatum joined the partnership in 1857 & the name was changed to Whitall Tatum & Company. in 1901, the name was changed to Whitall Tatum Company. Antique bottle collectors prize Whitall Tatum bottles. The company developed several innovations in formulas used to make the glass, & in the manufacturing methods for bottles. in 1901, coinciding with the name change to Whitall Tatum Company, the base marking became "W.T.CO.", until the 1920's, when the trademark became a "W" & "T" inside a triangle.
