My Heart From The Page To The Stage is a collection of student-written monologues (and a few poems) by C.R.O.W.'s Advanced Acting Program from 2019. It was performed to two full houses in Summer of 2019 in Florence, OR (a small, rural, coastal town with lots of heart and a love of the arts). Themes may contain mature content, and are not intended for children. The goal of the original workshop was to embrace the tough topics that are tangible to young adults and to cultivate the students' own voice/ writing skills. The directors guided the students to be open, honest, and sometimes raw about their feelings. What resulted was an incredibly real and very powerful glimpse at today's teenager and the issues that actually concern them. In their own words.... Topics include: fitting in, domestic violence, suicide, dating, depression, body image, loss of innocence, family relationships, jobs, and much more. There is humor in some of the monologues. Others are heartbreaking. All of them are relevant when you think about what these kids are really trying to say about the world they live in. They are aching to bust out of their small town chains and have their voices heard. Thank you for reading their words. Thank you for supporting youth in the arts.
