One day Amadeus, a leghorn rooster came to live with the?widow lady of St. Helena Island. He strutted around with such a jaunty hop-and-skip rhythm to his gait, that he was named after the 18th-century composer "Amadeus.." His haughty "cock-a-doodle-doo" was heard throughout the small Gullah community. Visitors came from near and far to see this beautiful leghorn rooster.
