Clayton M. Peterson has lived in Washington State since1962. In 1967 he joined the U.S. Army and received training in the9th Infantry Division, and Airborne; he also spent one year trainingas a Combat Engineer in the Special Forces.In 1969 he was in the Mobile Riverine Force in the MekongRiver Delta, was wounded on his third major firefight, and spentthirteen months in various military hospitals recovering from histhirty-eight major wounds; by a 'Million to One' chance, he miraculouslylived. He received two Purple Hearts, a Combat InfantryBadge, an Army Commendation Medal, and various other awards.He is married to Barbara and they will celebrate their 46th Anniversaryin December, 2014. They have six children and, at the presenttime , eleven grandchildren.His miraculous story will touch your heart with anger, love,and hope. Anger because of the awfulness of war itself, love becauseof the enduring struggle he and his wife faced during his recovery,and hope for those who find themselves or someone they know in acontinuing healing process.
