About the director Sam Taylor-Johnson - a British filmmaker and photographer. Her directorial feature film debut was in 2009 with Nowhere Boy, a film based on the childhood experiences of the Beatles songwriter and singer John Lennon. Her next directorial film was Fifty Shades of Grey in 2015 where Taylor-Johnson was nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Director (ouch)! She was first in line to direct the sequel Fifty Shades Darker but decided to walk away from the franchise after she was involved in several disagreements with the author. She went on to direct 2 episodes of Gypsy and A Million Little Pieces in which she is a co-writer.
