This high efficiency gas model has a uniquely designed damper door to stop the cool air from traveling through the flue when the water heater is in standby mode, maintaining the overall heat and efficiency of the tank. This ENERGY STAR® model does not require power, making it as easy as a standard atmospheric model to install. A. O. Smith’s 40-gallon model is designed with your safety in mind.
