We tested these "As Seen on TV" kitchen gadgets and found five actually worth picking up the phone for.

Cut the fat: NuWave Oven

$100; NuWaveOven.com

The spiel: It uses a trio of convection, conduction and infrared heat to cook food fast. Plus, the raised rack makes sure you lose the extra grease.

Our take: The NuWave takes up room on the kitchen counter but is worth it. The oven delivers on its promise to help you make leaner but still delicious meals. “My burger came out juicy even though I watched the fat drip away,” says SELF beauty blogger Alex Samuel. You can also use it to make lighter potato chips and fries. The setup and directions are intuitive, too. “If you can use a microwave, you can master the NuWave,” Samuel says.

The love: "My burger came out juicy even though I watched the fat drip away," says beauty editor Alex Samuel.

Free up space: Chef Basket

$10; ChefBasket.com

The spiel: With 12 uses (!), such as steaming, straining and boiling, this gizmo does it all. Plus, the handles stay cool.

Our take: “Draining pasta was 100 percent easier,” says associate public relations director Lindsey Benoit. “I didn’t burn my fingers or have to deal with an annoying steam facial.” Steaming veggies is also simpler with the basket, which makes healthy cooking a breeze. Another nice feature: The Chef Basket folds up, so it fits in even the smallest kitchen, and it eliminates the need for other gadgets because it has so many uses. Plus, it doesn’t take much time—or effort—to clean.

The love: "Draining pasta was easier," says SELF senior public relations manager Lindsey Benoit. "No annoying steam facial. And the basket folds up, so it fits in my tiny kitchen."

Buy it if: You’re looking to free up space in the kitchen.

The Slap Chop

(Photo: Claire Benoist)

Slash prep time: Slap Chop

$20; SlapChop.com

The spiel: Load ingredients, like nuts, seeds and veggies, and slap 'em to bits.

Our take: The Slap Chop definitely cuts down on prep time. “It got the job done in half the time it takes to use a knife,” says senior market editor Kristen Saladino. “A huge bonus: You can chop onions tear-free!” The product comes apart easily to clean, but putting it back together can be a bit more challenging. “It was a little like a jigsaw puzzle,” Saladino says.

The love: "It got the job done in half the time it takes to use a knife," says senior market editor Kristen Saladino. "A huge bonus: You can chop onions tear-free!"

Easy desserts: Chocolatiere

$20; Target.com

The spiel: Melt chocolate evenly for baking or for dipping goodies fondue-style.

Our take: “It was a cinch to use,” says freelance designer Carolyn LiRosi. “The chocolate melted in less than 10 minutes.” Cleanup is fast, too. The Chocolatiere is perfect for making effortless, healthy desserts such as berries dunked in dark chocolate.

The love: "Setup and cleanup were a breeze, and the chocolate melted in less than 10 minutes," says freelance designer Carolyn LiRosi. "It's great for going healthy—dark chocolate and berries."

Save cash: Genius Air Plus Refrigerator Refresher & Deodorizer

$25; QVC.com

The spiel: Stash it in the fridge to absorb ethylene, a gas emitted by fruit and veggies that ages them, so produce stays fresh longer.

Our take: “It’s totally easy to use—turn it on and stick it into your fridge,” says associate health editor Anna Maltby. “It keeps herbs and vegetables fresh for longer, and even more pleasantly, it keeps the fridge smelling clean.” Best part: It saves you money because you don’t have to shop for fresh stuff nearly as often.

The love: "I'm saving money because I don't have to shop for fresh stuff nearly as often," says associate health editor Anna Maltby.

Buy it if: You’re looking to save some cash.

When Kevon Smith Sr. sat down for breakfast at Cracker Barrel with his son Kevon Jr. in Willoughby, OH, he had no idea he was going to make headlines just for being a good dad. Kevon noticed a couple staring and smiling at him and his 3-month-old son, and although he was confused, he just went on with the meal. "I noticed this older couple over in the corner," he said. "They kept smiling at me and I was looking at my son like, 'What is going on?'" But when Kevon left the restaurant, it all made sense, as he saw a note on his car from the couple praising his parenting along with cash to cover his breakfast. "Today your meal is on my wife and me," it read. "Enjoy that baby as long as God intends.

The Indianapolis Colts fired GM Ryan Grigson on Saturday. McAfee has been in Indianapolis since 2009, so he’s seen the inner workings of this organization before and during the Grigson years.

Robocalls continue to plague homeowners — especially senior citizens at home all day with a traditional land line — and the volume is worse than ever. Texas received the most statewide robocalls in the U.S. for the seventh consecutive month, with 283.1 million calls received in December, according to the index. The 817 area code ranked 9th in the nation in robocall volume with 22.6 million calls. Dallas and Houston made the Top 10 among cities. • Here's what Trump's executive order really means for Obamacare

In one of his first official actions, President Trump signed an executive order late Friday that directed federal agencies to use their authority to relieve individual Americans, businesses, state governments and others from “burdens” placed on them by the Affordable Care Act. The Trump administration and its Republican allies in Congress billed the order as a first step in their push to repeal Obamacare. So, does this mean the new president has scrapped the 2010 healthcare law “on Day One,” as he once promised he would do? Or is this just more talk from the new president? As with everything about Obamacare, it’s complicated. Here’s what Trump’s order did, and what it didn’t do. Has Obamacare

    • Margherita Missoni's Collaboration with Pottery Barn Kids Is the Cutest Thing We've Ever Seen (14 photos)

As the heiress to the legendary Missoni fashion house, Margherita Maccapani Missoni Amos is no stranger to color and pattern (zigzags, specifically). After launching a childrenswear line, Margherita Kids, two years ago, the Italian mother-of-two is now branching out with a home collection for Pottery Barn Kids. "I think it's a natural progression, from dressing myself and my children, to dressing the home," she says. Margherita Missoni for Pottery Barn Kids features 50 vibrant pieces for the nursery, bedroom, and playroom that are meant to be mixed and matched. Of course, a prominent motif throughout the collection is the daisy--Amos's namesake flower--in a gender-neutral color palette of white and yellow, along with other personal touches, like a throw pillow emblazoned with "piccola mia" (translation: my baby) as a nod to her heritage. Read on for a Q&A with Amos, and scroll down to shop our favorite pieces from the collaboration. Credit: Courtesy of Pottery Barn Kids What was your goal in designing this collection? I wanted to create pieces that encourage self-expression and inspire children to explore their individuality. The capsule is playful--it's something that both parents and children will love and cherish. How did the Missoni brand inspire the collection? Growing up as a Missoni, from an early age, I developed an eye for color and texture and mixing and matching. That's definitely been very influential on my personal style. In a larger sense, I suppose that's why I have such a love of playing with patterns, using lots of color, and incorporating a variety of motifs in my designs. VIDEO: The Cutest Celebrity Kids on Instagram Did you get creative input from anyone in your family? Designing this collection has been a very personal journey. I think my experiences as a mother have greatly influenced the design process, so perhaps I need credit my sons! I strongly believe that it's important for children to be surrounded by furniture that's both approachable and functional, meaning size-appropriate.

The Trump propaganda machine is already lying to the American people. So Donald Trump's Inauguration came and went and no one was that excited about it. Sure, some people did show up, but it was an incredibly disappointment when compared to Barack Obama's 2009 inaugural. But don't take my word for it. Here are some photos via The New York Times. The juxtaposition is pretty stark. I mean there's just no question that Obama's crowd dwarfed Trump's, and the media reported as much. But, I'm sure our next President is too busy worrying about running the most powerful country in the world to focus on such a petty— OF COURSE HE ISN'T.
