From swimwear to spring dresses to leather jackets.

You know how Monday and Tuesday drag and drag, and then once Wednesday hits it’s like, where the hell did the week go? Well, April is the Wednesday of warm weather months. Summer will be here sooner than you can say “I didn’t even buy sandals, shorts, and sunglasses yet!” so if there’s anything you know you’re gonna need, you might want to jump on it now.

I, for one, am (regrettably!) taking a break from shopping, but for those of you who aren’t, this weekend’s sales provide plenty of opportunities for stocking up. Check out the best of the best below, and if you’re in New York or Los Angeles, check out our lists for the best IRL sample sales going on now and coming up soon.

Alala: 20% off with code FAMILY20 (through 4/22). This fancy athletic brand makes very sleek sports bras, shorts, tank tops, and tees, in case you don’t want to be running in that ratty old Champion bra all summer.

Sigerson Morrison: 25% off with code FFSM25 (through 4/24). Shoes are probably the only thing I actually need to buy every season because I wear through them so fast. If that’s you, too, check out SM’s Rhoda Mule, which’ll be $206 after the discount.

Las Cruxes: Okay, so here’s a cool concept shop based in Texas that I recently discovered, and the sale selection is pretty dope — Issey Miyake, Baggu, Loq. But basically, I need your help: Can someone buy out the rest of the on-sale Maryam Nassir Zadeh shoes (in size 38!) before I do? (I’m “not shopping,” but so tempted.)

The Outnet: Take an extra 30% off spring dresses. For those of your who somehow don’t know, the Outnet sells already-steeply discounted designer stuff. With names like Carven, Rosetta Getty, and Tibi in the mix, this extra 30% off sale is essential web browsing for anyone heading to a spring or summer wedding.

Mara Hoffman: The brand’s current-season stuff is VERY cute, but there’s a lot to shop right now in the sale section, too, from colorful one-pieces to bikinis, coverups, and even a wide-leg jumpsuit that wouldn’t at all be out of bounds on a sidewalk instead of poolside.

BNKR: 40% off party looks with code CHEERS40 (through 4/23). This Australian fashion site does US e-commerce for labels including Finders Keepers, Jaggar Footwear, Keepsake, and Solange-approved C/MEO Collective. The “party perfect” sale is made up mostly of cool, modern, girly pieces from Keepsake and C/MEO; there’s a lot to covet.

Veda: The NYC-based brand known for its amazing leather jackets is currently having an online warehouse sale. The stuff included is good — and cheap! — but it’s selling fast, so be quick about it. A few prime examples: This silk top is now $50 (from $275) and this rad moto jacket is now $450 (from $1,157).

On Martaevious Santiago’s 17th birthday, he shot his 13-year-old sister in the back of the head. She had just hugged him in the kitchen of the family’s Florida City home, police said. As they separated and Tedra King walked away, Martaevious pointed a loaded semiautomatic handgun at her. Then he pulled the trigger and killed her. Martaevious told police it was an accident. The shooting happened Tuesday night inside a modest Florida City subdivision called Washington Park. • Mom lets daughter's school know her 10-year-old is 'done' with homework

Making tough calls for your children is a vital aspect of parenting. One brave mother stepped up to the parenting plate for her child, sharing an email she sent to her daughter's school explaining that her 10 year old is "done with homework" because of the undue stress it causes. SEE ALSO: Instead of telling women who might get pregnant they can't drink, study suggests trusting them Bunmi Laditan, a mom blogger in Quebec, explained on Facebook that she told her daughter's school that her child would be "drastically reducing" the homework she'd be completing, but that she "was trying to be polite because [her daughter is] finished." “I just sent an email to her school letting her know she’s all done,” the mother wrote. "Over the past four years I've noticed her getting more and more stressed when it comes to school," the troubled mother wrote, "And by stressed I mean chest pains, waking up early, and dreading school in general." Laditan explained that her daughter often does homework until 6:30 p.m., with little to no time to relax after dinner. “Is family time not important?” she wrote, “Is time spent just being a child relaxing at home not important? Or should she become some kind of junior workaholic at 10 years old?" “Children need downtime after school the same way adults need downtime after work. They need to play with their siblings," she continued. Laditan later commented on her own post to further explain her point of view. Image: bunmi laditan/facebookThe mother clarified that she wasn’t blaming her daughter’s "incredible" teachers, and that she simply feels the system isn’t working for her child. “I can’t watch her unravel anymore and be filled with so much stress at age 10,” she explained. Parents, teachers, and even therapists sounded off in the post's comment section in support of Laditan, relating similar experiences with children in their own lives. • In pictures: North Korea carries out massive military test in show of might (14 photos)

North Korea has conducted what it has called its largest ever combined live-fire drill in an incredible display of power . Hundreds of tanks massed on the coast for the exercise, which involved the firing of more than 300 large-calibre artillery pieces and included submarine torpedo-attacks on mock enemy warships. The secretive state’s official media reported that leader Kim Jong-Un personally observed the show of might. Tensions have been simmering in the region as the relationship between Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump deteriorates. The latest military exercise, celebrating the the anniversary of the founding of the North Korean army, is a stark reminder of the damage North Korea could inflict on neighbouring South Korea. It had been suggested that Kim Jong-un would use the occasion to carry out the country’s sixth nuclear test. • ‘SportsCenter’ anchor agrees politics are hurting ESPN

ESPN’s sweeping staff cuts are not just the result of ambitious TV rights deals and an overburdened budget, popular “SportsCenter” anchor Linda Cohn suggested Thursday. The network may be losing the subscriber revenue not just because of cord-cutting, Cohn allowed, but because viewers are increasingly turned off by ESPN inserting politics into its sports coverage. “That is definitely a percentage of it,” Cohn said Thursday on 77 WABC’s “Bernie and Sid” show when asked whether certain social or political stances contributed to the stupor that resulted in roughly 100 employees getting the ax this week. Cohn agreed with the argument that certain sports fans may have disapproved of the way ESPN covered polarizing figures such as Roger Goodell, Colin Kaepernick and Caitlyn Jenner.

    • Questions continue to surround the prison life and death of Aaron Hernandez

An attorney for a prison friend of Aaron Hernandez raised fresh questions Wednesday about the life of the former NFL player, whose death in a Massachusetts prison has done nothing to bring closure to the mysteries surrounding him. Among the claims by Larry Army Jr., an attorney for prison inmate Kyle Kennedy: Hernandez and Kennedy knew each other before Kennedy’s 2015 incarceration; one of the suicide notes Hernandez left was meant for Kennedy; the two had asked to share a cell; and, weeks before his death, Hernandez had hinted at suicide in a letter to Kennedy that the latter interpreted as a joke. • Even Donald Trump's birthday tweet to Melania has a factual error it in

Our Tweeter in Chief Donald Trump, is known for playing fast and loose with facts, but you'd think a birthday message to his wife would be a nice softball. He can garner a few awws and then move on.  Nope. SEE ALSO: The only Melania in the White House is this photograph On Wednesday, Melania Trump celebrated her birthday. And like most loved ones do on their spouse's birthday, Donald Trump took to Twitter to send his best wishes to his wife. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our @FLOTUS, Melania! https://t.co/rYYp51mxDQ pic.twitter.com/np7KYHglSv — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 26, 2017 However, when it came to the graphics, there was a ball drop. Or a star drop, if you will. If you look closely you'll notice that the flag in that graphics package only has 39 stars, which leaves out quite a number of states.  And because nothing escapes the internet, Twitter definitely noticed. There are only 39 stars on that flag, sir. https://t.co/KATgoLIQUv — Dan Zak (@MrDanZak) April 27, 2017 This is so weird: The American flag on @FLOTUS Melania Trump's birthday card only has 39 stars. H/t: @eventsforgood pic.twitter.com/IYd2hdOXGJ — Christina Wilkie (@christinawilkie) April 27, 2017 Very weird. Since the 39 star flag was never official since we went from 38 to 42 states in 1890. https://t.co/TG5JWAPOA3 — MyNinjaTurtle (@MyNinjaTurtle) April 27, 2017 @chrislhayes Wonder which 11 states are slated for destruction? #39StarFlag pic.twitter.com/KKkIS1ElZB — kathy greenstone (@KathyGreenstone) April 27, 2017 To make matters even more worse, this is not the first time Donald Trump has shared the 39-star flag. As MSNBC's Chris Hayes pointed out, Donald Trump also shared the flag at the end of the video welcoming freed Egyptian American Aya Hijazi who was imprisoned in Cairo. @christinawilkie @FLOTUS @eventsforgood IT'S THE SAME FLAG IN THE END OF THIS VIDEO!!!! https://t.co/jZOSS7VjNh — Christopher Hayes (@chrislhayes) April 27, 2017 Someone in the WH graphics operation has a 39-star flag saved on their computer as the current flag and is using it everything! — Christopher Hayes (@chrislhayes) April 27, 2017 For reference, Mr. President, we've never actually had a 39-star flag in the history of the United States.  The design was actually created in 1889 when flag makers were anticipating the addition of the Dakotas to the United states. Flag makers incorrectly assumed that what we know as North Dakota and South Dakota would be admitted to the US as only one state, not two. The New York Times notes:  Long story short, flag makers jumped the gun, so now 39-star flag was never an official flag. They are now just collectors items. Note: there was never an official 39-star flag, but some folks thought there would be 39 states in 1889, so some flags were actually created — Brian Ruh (@brianruh) September 5, 2016 WE NEVER EVEN HAD A 39 STAR FLAG https://t.co/XpMS0LMd97 — SheriffFruitfly (@sherifffruitfly) April 27, 2017 Now, to be fair, this is probably just a graphic design mistake from the White House art department, not a comment on how many states Trump wishes we had. But the fact stands: The. President. Of. The. United. States. Tweeted. A. Fake. Flag. Happy Birthday, Melania!
