According to RetailMeNot, June is the best time to save on dishes, home décor, fitness equipment, and tools. Over atDealNews, they’re hyping lingerie and vacations while staying away from grills until July. This month, Yahoo Shopping joins both sites to bring you what to buy – and what not to buy – in June.

Ladies Love Cool Lingerie (Deals)

“It's usually this month that Victoria's Secret unveils its famed Semi-Annual Sale, and last year we saw discounts on bras, panties, and swimwear,” writes DealNews.

“Keep in mind though that discounts might get stronger later in the month, as the store slashed prices further as the weeks went by. Moreover, we saw excellent lingerie deals in June from Frederick's of Hollywood and Maidenform.”

Dishes and Décor in Demand

RetailMeNot says dishes and home décor items tend to go on sale in June, the month that’s come to be associated with nuptials. (17% of U.S. weddings take place in June.) The site suggests looking to retailers such as Macy’s and Bed Bath & Beyond, where you can use the retailer’s popular 20% off one item coupon for a newly married couple.

Vacation in the Caribbean on a Dime

“Technically, June is considered to be the beginning of the Caribbean's hurricane season. But, unlike the later months, it's far less likely to experience tropical storms,” says DealNews.

“Still, there is the chance of bad weather, which means vacation packages and cruises in the area are much cheaper. If you're willing to give it a try, look for last minute Caribbean vacation deals for this month.”

Fiscally Sound Fitness

If you see gym clubs and fitness machine retailers advertising hot deals in local media, make sure to scour social media and also social commerce sites for deals as well.

“Ask about a no-commitment free trial. Visit during the time you’d likely be using the facility, to see if it’s too crowded for you to get timely use of the equipment,” says RetailMeNot.

Keep in kind that your insurance policy may reimburse gym memberships, some fitness centers have off-peak plans that are cheaper than prime-time ones, and always talk with a manager about a group discount if friends join with you.

Starting June 4, 24 Hour Fitness will offer an exclusive free four-day pass to try any one of its gyms in the country.

If you’re looking to stock your home gym, Sports Authority is promoting the lowest prices of the season on treadmills and ellipticals, “a good variety of equipment for up to 50% off,” says Joe Smyth of RetailMeNot. The store also offers free delivery on orders of $999.99 or more (after discounts).

The Xbox One Will Be Cheaper, and the PS4 Will Finally See Deals

“Microsoft has been struggling to beat out Sony in console sales, largely because its Xbox One was priced $100 more than thePlayStation 4,” says DealNews.

“In response, Microsoft finally announced that it would sell the One console without the Kinect sensor for $399, the same MSRP as the PS4, allowing budget-savvy shoppers the opportunity to get into next-generation gaming at a lower initial cost. Perhaps not-so-coincidentally, we also saw our first deals on the PS4 last month, and we anticipate seeing a few scattered discounts going forward, now that the two consoles are on even footing price-wise.”

Tool Sales Start Now

Last June a RetailMeNot coupon code stacked with Sears discounts meant some tools were as much as 50% off, according to Joe Smyth of RetailMeNot.

The site says this June should be just as good for tool deals. Home Depot plans a great Father’s Day sale starting in early June. You can also get free shipping in the contiguous 48 states (exclusions apply). Father’s Day is Sunday, June 15. Remember: Tools beat ties every time.

Grill Deals Will Spark in July

You want to grill right now, but that doesn’t mean this is the best time to replace the hot box in the back yard.

“You'll get a better discount on bbq grills if you wait for July 4th promotions. According to our deals from last year, you could save as much as 50%, or $220 or more, on a mid- to high-end grill if you wait until July,” says DealNews.

June Marks the Start of Back-to-School

June is a big month for Apple fans. Although rumors about a Retina MacBook Air unveiling at its Worldwide Developer's Conference keynote didn't come true, Apple did reveal its newest mobile operating system, iOS 8. The software will be available to the public for free this fall. The AP reports that IOS 8 will have a built-in health-management tool to help people track their vital signs, diet and sleeping habits. Microsoft fans also have reason to celebrate. With pre-orders of its Surface Pro 3 in full swing, it's likely we'll see sharp discounts on the Surface RT and Surface 2 tablets.

Police investigating a notorious gang in a city on California’s central coast issued a fake press release that the chief credited with saving two men by deceiving gang members who wanted to kill them, but the ruse was criticized by news organizations who reported it as fact. Santa Maria Police Chief Ralph Martin defended the rare tactic this week when it came to light, saying he had never done such a thing in his 43-year career, but he wouldn’t rule out doing it again. “It was a moral and ethical decision, and I stand by it,” Martin said Friday. The phony announcement issued in February was discovered in court documents and only reported this week by the Santa Maria Sun, a weekly newspaper in the city 140 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
