Test-drive: Lipstick Queen's blue lipstick

In the beauty-product department, I have a healthy fear of all things blue: Blue eye shadow can bring unforgiving '80s comparisons, and blue mascara and eyeliner should really, in my opinion, just be black. Blue lipstick? Unless you’re a clown, or Ke$ha, try to avoid it. Or so I thought until earlier this week, when I picked up Lipstick Queen’s new shade, Hello Sailor. It's a sheer navy lipstick that promises to make your teeth look whiter and your complexion brighter.

The color glided easily onto my lips and yielded a surprisingly gorgeous, shiny raspberry shade. (See my Instagram for pictures.) Elementary color theory teaches us that red and blue make purple, and on naturally rosy lips, this navy lipstick produces a subtle berry pout. But the color fades quickly, so if you’re looking for a deeper purple, then reapply often.

Would you dare to try blue lipstick?

A woman from Aarhus, Denmark, who was once classified as “morbidly obese” after tipping the scales at 268 pounds, now works as a physical trainer and sportswear model after dropping more than half of the weight in a period of four years. Mathilde Broberg, 22, lost the excess pounds partially by cutting out junk food, exercising avidly and following the “teaspoon diet,” where she measured out her food and ate with a teaspoon to ensure that the portion sizes weren’t larger than the size of a flat-out hand.

    • CNN Exclusive: Inflammatory pastor scheduled to preach to Trump before inauguration

Jeffress has also called Islam and Mormonism heresies "from the pit of hell," suggested that the Catholic church was led astray by Satan, accused Obama of "paving the way" for the Antichrist and spread false statistics about the prevalence of HIV among gays, who he said live a "miserable" and "filthy" lifestyle. In recent years, Jeffress has frequently denounced Islam, calling it an "evil religion" that "promotes pedophilia" because the Prophet Muhammed married a 9-year-old girl. (Many modern Muslim scholars disagree about her age.) The pastor has also said that Mormons, Muslims and Hindus "worship a false god." The Rev. Luis León, rector of St. John's Episcopal, told CNN about the plan for Jeffress

Ivanka Trump and her hubby Jared Kushner have been given a rabbinical waiver to ride in a car following Donald Trump’s inauguration on Friday, according to a new report. The couple are both Orthodox Jews and, according to Jewish law, driving or riding in cars is banned on the Sabbath, which begins Friday at sundown. But a principle in Jewish law called “pikuach nefesh” says the rule can be broken in life-threatening situations, the Forward newspaper reported. Mark Zell, chairman of the Republican Party in Israel, said the couple had been granted special permission by a rabbi to use a vehicle because of “safety” concerns, Kol Barama radio reported. It would not be the first time that Kushner broke

    • Will Apple finally change the iPhone name this year?

As far as the rumormill is concerned , Apple is dead-set to release a major iPhone this year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of rounded corners and pinch-to-zoom. Most people are assuming it's going to be called the iPhone 8, keeping Apple's tradition of adding a number every time it makes a major version upgrade. But "iPhone 8" has some major problems for Apple. It's boring, far too evolutionary, and most Apple fans can't count that high. (Please, be gentle in the comments.) Here's the biggest practical issue: if Apple does what we're expecting and releases an iPhone 7S and a flagship iPhone 8 this year, it'll kill the smaller iPhone before it makes it to market. No one wants to spend $600 on a brand-new phone that's objectively not the best thing you can buy. Apple's brand relies on the premium feel, the idea that when you buy a new iPhone, you're getting the very best technology available today. If you have to stand in line for your iPhone 7S behind someone buying an iPhone 8, that idea goes out the window. Then there's the competition. By no small coincidence, Apple and Samsung are on the same numerical naming scheme these days. The iPhone 7 and Galaxy S7 will be direct competitors, as would be the iPhone 8 and Galaxy S8. But in 2018, Samsung will launch the Galaxy S9, and Apple will (presumably) be stuck with the iPhone 8S. I'm not saying that people solely buy their smartphone based on which has the bigger number, but there's definitely some compensation happening. So, if not the iPhone 8, then what? A few analysts have thrown around "iPhone X" as the logical successor. "X" in this case will be a stand-in for 10, since it's going to be the 10th anniversary iPhone. Apple is likely to make a big deal about the 10th anniversary. The timing is right: the original iPhone was just killed off by AT&T, Apple will be looking to reinforce its reputation for innovation with an all-new iPhone, and by September, Trump's constituents will probably be ready to reminisce about 2007.

    • Western Union admits to aiding wire fraud, to pay $586 million

Western Union Co , the world's biggest money-transfer company, agreed to pay $586 million and admitted to turning a blind eye as criminals used its service for money laundering and fraud, U.S. authorities said on Thursday. Western Union, which has over half a million locations in more than 200 countries, admitted "to aiding and abetting wire fraud" by allowing scammers to process transactions, even when the company realized its agents were helping scammers avoid detection, the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission said in statements. With the help of Western Union agents, Chinese immigrants used the service to send hundreds of millions of dollars to pay human smugglers, wiring the money in smaller increments to avoid federal reporting requirements, U.S. authorities said.
