Tasters' Pick: Crisp outside and tender inside, these chunky, cinnamony cookies ($6 for 11.25 oz.), filled with "plump" raisins, taste like "homemade."

Pillsbury Big Deluxe Peanut Butter Cup

Tasters' and Editors' Pick: "Decadent" and "melt-in-your-mouth" soft. Mini peanut butter cups (like the famous candy) give these cookies ($3.29 for 16 oz.) a creamy texture and "rich" chocolate flavor.

Wholly Wholesome Chocolate Chip

Editors’ Pick: Our tasters enjoyed the "generous amounts of chocolate chips" in Wholly Wholesome's chocolate chip cookie dough ($5.99 for 11.25 oz.). These cookies tasted "natural" and "home-baked," and the texture was crisp. For some, it was almost too crisp — a few volunteers complained about a burnt, "smoky" flavor.

Nestlé Toll House Oatmeal Scotchies

Editors’ Pick: With loads of butterscotch chips, some of our volunteers could "barely tell" Nestlé Toll House Oatmeal Scotchies ($3.29 for 16 oz.) even contained oatmeal. While these cookies were “too sweet” for some, they were just right and “oat-y” for others. The “chewy,” “soft” texture earned it most of its points.

Nestlé Toll House White Chip Macadamia Nut

The "crisp" and "crunchy" Nestlé Toll House White Chip Macadamia Nut ($3.29 for 16 oz.) cookies were "the driest of the bunch." The white chocolate chips were a hit or miss based on one's personal preference, but the macadamia nuts gave the cookies a "good crunch." Tasters thought the flavor was "super buttery," "more like a butter cookie."

Pillsbury Big Deluxe Oatmeal Raisin

If you enjoy cookies on the softer side, consider Pillsbury Big Deluxe Oatmeal Raisin ($3.29 for 16 oz.) cookies, though some volunteers thought they actually tasted “too soft.” Raisin-lovers rejoiced at the “large” and “juicy” raisins.

Immaculate Baking Co. Chocolate Chunk

The chocolate chip cookies from Immaculate Baking Co. ($3.99 for 14 oz.) are perfect for those who like their cookies soft and chewy on the inside and crispier on the outside. Unfortunately, some thought the taste was a bit "bitter," "bland," and "artificial." Tasters did appreciate the hefty chocolate chunks.

Nestlé Toll House Chocolate Chip

Our volunteers found Nestlé Toll House chocolate chip cookies ($3.19 for 16.5 oz.) both "crunchy" and "chewy." Many thought the cookies tasted "homemade," but also "floury" and a bit "salty,” especially since the "very sweet" chocolate chips were sparse.

Trader Joe's Chocolate Chip

"Tough" and "hard" was the way most of our volunteers described the chocolate chip cookies from Trader Joe's ($3.49 for 16 oz.) but "extra chocolate-y" chips helped soften the texture. The cookies' flavor was hard to pinpoint, as our tasters called the cookies as everything from "vanilla-y" and "sweet" to "bitter" and "nutty."

Pillsbury Peanut Butter

Pillsbury Peanut Butter cookies ($3.19 for 16.5 oz.) were "too one-note taste- and texture-wise" for many of our tasters, calling the cookie "plain" and "boring." Many also found the cookies "dry" and "harder to chew" than the rest.

Great Value Chocolate Chip

Tasters were not huge fans of Great Value chocolate chip cookies ($2.18 for 16.5 oz.). Although volunteers detected hints of coconut and vanilla in the flavor, they also described it as "artificial" and "stale." For cookie lovers who like a crunchier cookie texture, these just might satisfy.

Pillsbury Simply Chocolate Chip

Tasters were divided on the texture of Pillsbury Simply chocolate chip cookies ($3.29 for 14 oz.) with some finding it too thin for their liking and others calling it "melt in your mouth." They also couldn't agree on the flavor with some considering its richness "greasy" and others deeming it "buttery." All tasters, however, longed for more chocolate, complaining that there were "not enough chips."

Nestlé Toll House Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip

While some tasters thought that these cookies ($3.19 for 16 oz.) lacked peanut butter flavor, most described the cookies as "very nutty," possessing a "nice balance between peanut butter and chocolate taste." Unfortunately, the texture was described as "very chewy," to the point of being almost "rubbery."
