Chili: the stuff of football games, camping, and winter hibernation. For many, this hearty stew comes from a can. Which is fine! Sure, there are a multitude of simple, delicious chili recipes, but we understand that sometimes it's just easier to pour the ready-made stuff right into a pan, heat, and serve. It'll be ready faster than you can say "30-pack of Bud Light."

That being said, we have our standards. So we did a taste test of eight vegetarian and non-vegetarian chilis to see which are tops in flavor and which are the healthiest choices. So go ahead, indulge in some dinner from a can. Just make sure you open the right one.

Nutritionist Marissa Lippert's Picks

Comments from Lippert: "I weeded things out by looking at the sodium content, the ingredients and then calories--most were right around 200 calories per 1 cup serving. My top picks all have lower than 600 mg sodium per serving and are the most straightforward with natural and/or organic ingredients...and they get a good dose of vegetables in there, which never hurt anyone."

    • President Trump’s Inauguration Crowd Doesn’t Look Like Barack Obama’s Did in 2009

A side-by-side comparison of the crowds at former President Barack Obama and President Donald Trump‘s respective inaugurations reveals that Trump’s crowd isn’t as large as he boasted it would be. Two aerial photographs of the National Mall from the two historic days reveal large patches of white ground exposed during Trump’s ceremony, spaces crowds had filled during Obama’s 2009 inauguration. Federal and local agencies estimated 700,000 to 900,000 people would be in Washington, D.C. for Trump’s inauguration on Friday, roughly half the number of people who attended Obama’s first presidential inauguration.

In a strong message that serves as warning to those intent on disregarding the rules in national parks, including Yellowstone, a judge sentenced two members of the filmmaking group High on Life SundayFundayz to jail time. A third member who also pled guilty avoided jail but was fined Thursday, just as two others from the group did in November when they appeared before Magistrate Judge Mark Carman and pled guilty. The Canadian group, consisting of five men, ignored warnings and broke laws, and videotaped and photographed its antics, then posted them on Facebook. The group’s most egregious actions came on May 16, 2016 at Yellowstone National Park where four members disregarded warning signs and

    • The Clinton Foundation Is Dead — But The Case Against Hillary Isn't

While everyone's been gearing up for President Trump's inauguration, the Clinton Foundation made a major announcement this week that went by with almost no notice: For all intents and purposes, it's closing its doors. In a tax filing, the Clinton Global Initiative said it's firing 22 staffers and closing its offices, a result of the gusher of foreign money that kept the foundation afloat suddenly drying up after Hillary Clinton failed to win the presidency. It proves what we've said all along: The Clinton Foundation was little more than an influence-peddling scheme to enrich the Clintons, and had little if anything to do with "charity," either overseas or in the U.S. That sound you heard starting in November was checkbooks being snapped shut in offices around the world by people who had hoped their donations would buy access to the next president of the United States. There was a strong precedent for it in Hillary Clinton's tenure as secretary of state.

MAGA comes at you fast—the rate cut was announced just 11 days ago. As President Donald Trump sat signing paperwork with congressional leaders Friday afternoon, his administration sprang into a strangely specific action: They made it harder for Americans to afford their own homes. Just 11 days after the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) had announced a cut in fee rates for mortgages, Trump’s team revoked the price cut. The small but significant reduction in mortgage insurance premiums had been set to go into effect January 27, but is now “suspended indefinitely,” per an administration letter.
