Skip the clichés and the well-intentioned missteps this year. Get Dad something good, not any of this stuff below.

Hair Loss Remedies

Maybe he needs it or even sort of wants someone to buy it for him. Still, save it for an everyday present and give Dad something else on Father's Day instead: maybe a cool baseball cap, if that hair loss is really an issue.

Back Shaver

Keep the grooming gifts to things that feel more luxe and pampering than hygenic and personal, like a badger shaving brush James Bond would love.

Cologne

Dad's going to want to pick out the scent himself—it's a personal thing. If you want to go the toiletry route, opt for something like these travel-sized kits, a lifesaver for last minute weekend or business trip packing.

Aprons

If Dad spends a lot of time in the kitchen, it might seem like a good idea. But he'll probably be more excited by a gadget like a single-cup coffee maker or a juicer or an electric BBQ fork (the last of which is pretty much the same price as an apron).

Fancy Desk Accessories

It's an understandable thought when Dad is the definition of The Man Who Has Everything. But he'd probably want something more fun to play with in his office, then, like a toy drone helicopter or a desktop record player.

#1 Dad Anything

Best Dad" or "#1 Dad" motifs are cheesy, but you can still let him know he's the best Dad ever by giving him other stuff like cool beer steins or an orange squeezer for fresh juice every morning.

Ties

If dad loves ties and you find one that he cannot live without, then go for it! But for the most part this gift is too cliché. Pick an accessory that he'll get the most use of this summer, like a classic pair of sunglasses.

    • Trove of dazzling Bronze Age weapons unearthed

Excavations during the construction of two soccer fields in Scotland have turned up a rare discovery — a Bronze-Age weapon hoard, including a notched bronze sword and a gold-decorated spearhead. The weapons, which likely date back to between 1000 B.C. and 800 B.C., were found in a pit alongside a Bronze Age roundhouse. All told, archaeologists discovered the remains of 12 Bronze Age buildings during the dig, as well as a much earlier Stone Age hall that probably dates back to the very beginnings of agriculture in Scotland. “There was no real indication of the wealth of archaeological remains” before the dig, said Ronan Toolis, the commercial director of GUARD Archaeology Limited, the firm that conducted the excavation.

    • Kellyanne Conway sidelined from TV after Flynn debacle

Kellyanne Conway, once the most visible spokesperson for the Trump White House, has been sidelined from television appearances for making statements that were at odds with the administration's official stance, White House sources told CNNMoney on Wednesday. Conway has not given a television interview since early last week. On that Monday, she claimed that former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn had the president's "full confidence." Hours later, Flynn resigned. The following day, Conway claimed Flynn had offered to resign, even though White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Trump had asked Flynn for his resignation. She has not given a television interview since then. Those statements,

The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday sided with a disabled Michigan girl whose school refused to let her bring her service dog to class, making it easier for students like her to seek redress for discrimination in federal court. The justices ruled 8-0 that Ehlena Fry, 13, and her parents may not be obligated to go through time-consuming administrative appeals with the local school board before suing for damages for the emotional distress she said she suffered by being denied the assistance of her dog, a goldendoodle named Wonder. "We are thankful that the Supreme Court has clarified that schools cannot treat children with disabilities differently or stand in the way of their desired independence." The justices sent the case back to a lower appeals court to determine whether Ehlena's complaint involves the impermissible denial of a proper special education.

Even though Young has enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career under Luke Walton, he's averaging 13.8 points per game while shooting 41.3% from beyond

    • Why President Trump's new immigration plan will backfire horribly

The president of the United States got in an argument over the weekend about an imaginary terrorist attack in Sweden because he saw something about it on Fox News. And now, President Trump is using the full force of his office to try to turn America into precisely the place he imagines Europe has become, where groups of disaffected and resentful immigrants plot attacks against the countries that have so generously taken them in, while all the native citizens live in fear of the horde of interlopers. That's not what he's intentionally trying to do, of course. He believes he's making America safe by getting rid of dangerous foreigners who were already hell-bent on our destruction. But he could
