Just in time for allergy season: the best tissues (of 12 tested) for sneeze control.

Top Tissues

Kleenex Lotion (starting at $2.63 for 75 tissues; Yahoo! Shopping)

Thick, absorbent in lab tests, and rated "very soft" by testers, these earned our highest overall score (by a nose over other Kleenex versions). Messy-sneezer alert: Wet strength was just average.

For Tender Types

Kleenex Ultra Soft (starting at $2.63 for 75 tissues; Yahoo! Shopping) Prefer lotion-free tissues? Testers rated these as softest. Our lab trials found them to be super absorbent, with "good" to "excellent" dry strength but so-so wet strength.

Best Value

Puffs Ultra ($2.34 for 124, amazon.com) At about two cents apiece, these non-lotioned tissues scored very well on absorbency, dry and wet strength, and softness. (Note: In the cube, they're pricier per tissue than our premium picks.)

    • Mysterious sea creature that washed ashore in Philippines is identified; video

The remains of a hairy, white sea creature that washed ashore Wednesday afternoon on a beach on Dinagat Island in the Philippines created a buzz among the locals of Barangay Poblacion and on social media. Most speculated it was a sea cow. Some said it resembled an Old English sheepdog. The creepy beast measured 20 feet long and, as it sat on the shoreline, became the subject of many selfies, photographs and videos. Sky News reported that the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources at first believed it could be the remains of a sea cow. But after testing samples it was determined to be the carcass of a whale in an advanced stage of decomposition, according to the Sun Star. The type of whale

    • Fox News' Shep Smith attempts to explain 'Fake News' to Donald Trump

"CNN's reporting was not fake news," Fox News host Shep Smith said on air on Friday. In lieu of a daily press conference, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer held a closed-door gaggle with reporters, hand-selecting which media organizations had the privilege of attending. CNN, the New York Times , BuzzFeed , the Los Angeles Times and Politico were denied access, prompting a flurry of confusion and outrage.  While reporters from the Associated Press and Time reportedly boycotted the meeting, the media outlets banned found an unexpected but increasingly vocal ally: Fox News' Shep Smith.  SEE ALSO: Trump White House blocks CNN, New York Times, BuzzFeed, Politico from press briefing Smith defended the media organizations that the White House barred from the briefing on TV on Friday afternoon, and noted that President Donald J. Trump has referred to some the organizations as "fake news" in the past. When Smith noted that Spicer hand-picked the media allowed in the gaggle, Smith said, "that is highly unusual." Later in the segment, Smith attempted to educate Trump and his audience on what "fake news" really actually is. Sorry, but it's not news that you don't like. "For the record," Smith said in the broadcast, "fake news refers to stories that are created often by entities pretending to be news organizations solely to draw clicks and views and are based on nothing of substance. In short, fake news is made-up nonsense delivered for financial gain. CNN's reporting was not fake news." This isn't the first time Smith has gone on air to defend CNN. He defended CNN reporter Jim Acosta after Trump called CNN fake news during a press conference and again when Trump insulted the media at another press conference when he ignored questions involving Russia.   BONUS: Trump claims drugs are cheaper than candy, Americans collectively facepalm

    • 'Country Over Party': Dershowitz to Leave Dems If Ellison Elected DNC Chair

Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz, a high-profile Democrat for decades, said in an op-ed published Friday that he will leave the party if Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) is elected chairman this weekend. "My loyalty to my country and my principles and my heritage exceeds any loyalty to my party," Dershowitz, who supported Hillary Clinton in 2016, wrote in "The Hill" newspaper. Dershowitz recounted Ellison's history of controversial statements and actions many deemed anti-Semitic, including the congressman's history with Louis Farrakhan's "Nation of Islam" movement. "A prominent lawyer ... told me that while he was a law student, Ellison approached her and said he could not respect her because she was a Jew and because she was a woman who should not be at a law school," Dershowitz claims in the column.
