Baby and toddler products

You don’t need a calendar to know the holidays are upon us. Stores are rolling out early sales, commercials are hammering us with holiday themes at every turn, and in the air there’s a feeling of, well, you know. But beware: This is typically NOT the time to look for deals on toys. Most retail experts agree the best time to buy toys is the two weeks leading up to Christmas Day.

You'll find sales all month long in each of these categories, but some of the specific products listed are timed for Black Friday and may not be on sale yet. Keep this story bookmarked as a part of your Black Friday shopping survival guide."

Baby and toddler products

Sure, everyone is excited about Christmas. But few things are better than a baby or toddler waking up with wonder on Christmas morning. Retailers are hoping you'll agree, and they’re stocking up accordingly.

Baby gifts are perfect for new parents and expecting parents alike. Toddlers, as most parents figure out the hard way, don’t need a ton of expensive gifts under the tree. One good one will suffice.

A good example is the Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Stride to Ride Puppy from Walmart. At $44.97 it’s an affordable – and memorable – gift for the little ones.

Panasonic Blu-Ray Player

Coveted gadgets from televisions to GPS units are typically used as “door-buster” specials on Black Friday and the weeks that follow.

This is the month when that big TV you desire will likely dip in price – from 15 percent to 20 percent. Top brand TVs may not see such deep discounts – that won’t come until December – but if you desire a big TV and don’t need all the extra features, this is your month.

And if you get that big TV you’ve always wanted and you still feel like adding the bells and whistles, check out the Panasonic Smart Network Blu-ray Disc Player with Wi-Fi from Kmart. This month you can get it for $79.99 as opposed to the $119.99 retail price. It will not only give you great Blu-ray playback, but allow you to stream Netflix, Hulu Plus and other services as well.

Cookware Deals

November is a great month to outfit your kitchen. Luckily, it’s just around this time of year that you notice your equipment might not cut it for the holiday feasts. Cookware is also a great gift idea.

With more and more Americans now calling themselves “Foodies,” there’s a whole new set of gift ideas for people who may have previously been hard to shop for.

For instance, the Kitchen Selectives 1 1/2 Qt. Slow Cooker from Ace Hardware will sell for $2.99 instead of its regular $15.99 retail price.

Or maybe you want to sharpen things up with a Ginsu Essentials 5-piece Bakelite Prep Knives Set. Walmart will have them for $15.00 instead of the usual $26.99.

Pizza anyone? Check out the Grill Pizza Stone set from Ace Hardware for $19.99 instead of the regular price of $73.98.

Blu-Ray movies

Blu-ray movies

Black Friday and Cyber Monday bring with them deep discounts on Blu-ray movies.

Not only do these make impressive stocking stuffers, but they’re also a perfect “I’m getting something for me” item to pick up while you’re shopping for family and friends. Some are as low as $5 with shipping. Not too shabby.

Soaps, candles and lotions

These items are always popular holiday gifts, especially since they’re universal. Everyone uses them and some people rarely treat themselves to quality soaps or lotions. They’re easy to assemble into custom gift baskets and they can be a very reasonable, but impressive, gift.

For instance, you’ll be able to buy a huge Vanilla Scented Flameless Pillar Candle from Ace Hardware for $9.99 instead of the regular $17.99 retail price.

Power tools

Please do not get dad another tie this year. For that matter, don’t assume Mom just wants a box of potpourri. Along with the rise of the American Foodie, recent years have also introduced the rise of the American DIY Couple.

Many husbands and wives – perhaps motivated by a down economy and a desire to save cash – have decided to take home improvements into their own hands. As such, tools and power tools are an increasingly popular holiday item. You can find a lot of great deals in this category during November.

For example, the Chicago Electric 12” Sliding Compound Miter Saw w/Laser Guide from Harbor Freight will go on sale for $119.99, a considerable savings compared to its regular $199.99 price.

Sally Costume for Teens

Halloween costumes

It will come as no surprise to you that retailers slash prices on Halloween costumes as soon as Halloween is over. For parents, this is a great way to save serious cash for next year’s holiday. For kids, it’s a chance to stock up on some cool dress up clothes for the rest of the year.

For instance, The Nightmare Before Christmas Sally Teen Costume from Bon-Ton is half off this month, coming in at just $40 for what is a pretty amazing costume.

CAIRO – While celebrating his eldest son's lavish wedding, at which a number of famous singers and belly dancers performed, Nasser Hassan decided to "double the joy," he later recalled. He announced that his son Omar would marry his cousin Gharam. At the wedding, held in a province about 75 miles north of Cairo, the guests didn’t find it strange. Some would later tell Egypt’s Al Watan newspaper that there was “nothing inappropriate,” adding that it was only “an engagement, not a marriage". Omar is 12 years old. His fiancee, Gharam, is 11. Egyptian laws prohibit official registration for marriages for anyone under the age of 18. But the practice remains prevalent. According to UNICEF, 17 percent
