Summer skincare tips

If you're anything like me, you're in the midst of preparing to (finally!) see summer in. Here's a quick tip: While you're trading wardrobes, don't forget to make the switch with your skin care too.

Instead of a rich, heavy body lotion, try a dry oil.

Oil not only hydrates your skin just as well, it'll take your skin one step further and make it glow and glisten. (So great for sunny season, right?) Moisturize from neck to toe with something that's not greasy, like Organix Hydrating Moroccan Argan Dry Body Oil, $6.39, drugstore.com. It absorbs into skin quickly, and it smells incredible.

Instead of a thick face cream, try a moisturizing serum.
Higher temperatures and extreme humidity usually yield excessively sweaty skin, so sate your face with something a little lighter, like Mario Badescu Herbal Hydrating Serum, $30, mariobadescu.com. This oil-free gem is one of my absolute favorites; two tiny drops is actually enough to moisturize your entire face.

Instead of a creamy cleanser, try a gel face wash.
Milky cleansers are usually formulated with humectants that help bind water and moisture into the skin. That's perfect for the colder months, but not so much when it's sweltering out. Lather up with a lightweight foam or a gel, like Clinique Wash-Away Gel Cleanser, $19.50, clinique.com. It's gentle and non-drying but thorough—it doesn't leave a stitch of dirt, oil, or makeup behind.

I was only in the classroom for 45 minutes, but that was long enough to compel me to write a letter to the teacher once I left. I’ll be honest, I have zero qualifications as it relates to child education. My only qualification and reason for being in a kindergarten class that day is my oldest child is a kindergartner. He attends a public school and I was in his classroom as a parent volunteer. His teacher had asked parents to sign up to help during the daily Literacy Center portion of the morning. I was excited to go in, see my son in his classroom, and meet his classmates. When I arrived, the class was sitting on the floor, singing, and drawing the alphabet in the air with their fingers. City child-welfare workers had previously found cuts, welts and bruises on several children living in the Queens home where a 5-year-old boy was found dead Sunday, while also uncovering signs of sexual abuse and evidence that the kids didn’t have enough food or clothing, law-enforcement sources said Tuesday. The city Department of Investigation is now probing the Administration for Children’s Services’ handling of the case, authorities said. “(DOI) has sent a request to the New York State Office of Children and Family Services for access to records from the City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) regarding ACS’s involvement with five-year-old Michael Guzman,” DOI Commissioner Mark Peters said in a statement.

They went down like dominoes in Aimee Romero’s household. First her 5-year-old daughter came home sick from school. The Eastern Howard School Corporation in Indiana, where Ms. Romero’s children go, closed on Tuesday after 27 percent of the elementary-school children had been out sick the prior Friday. After handing over the keys to the White House to President Trump on Friday, President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama retreated to this stunning 11,000-square-foot stucco home in the Palm Springs area of Southern California for a little time off. Built in the early 1970s by architect Howard Lapham, the home (nicknamed Icha Mayapan, or “exclusive estate”) is a standout example of Mayan Revival design, a popular midcentury style influenced by several Frank Lloyd Wright-designed homes from the 1920s, including the Hollyhock and Ennis houses in Los Angeles. Its current owners, James Costos, ambassador to Spain and Angora under President Obama, and L.A.-based designer Michael S. Smith, who also redecorated the White House while the Obamas lived there, restored the home several years ago.

    • John Elway Surprised A Cab Driver Who Had Just Named The Broncos GM The Best Quarterback Ever

If there’s one thing cab drivers are opinionated about, it’s sports. Elway and his wife were in town with mortgage magnate Glenn Stearns and his wife to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration when the Stearnses seemingly initiated a conversation about who the cab driver, named Sam Snow, thought was the best to ever throw a pigskin.
