I'm a pro baker: This genius $9 foot pull keeps greasy hands off my cabinets
Rather than opening doors with buttery paws, this nifty gizmo lets you use your feet.
As someone who used to bake professionally — and now writes about household products for a living — there aren't many kitchen doodads I've not crossed paths with. But the other day, I happened upon an unassuming yet genius item that stopped me in my tracks. It was the Cathyeen Cabinet Foot Pull, a simple device that, as the name implies, allows you to open lower cabinets with your foot, rather than butter-covered hands. I promptly added this $9 game-changer to my Amazon cart, and here's why you should, too.
You can stick this little handle just about anywhere, from the kitchen garbage cabinet to your office desk's drawers.
Whether you like to cook, bake or both, think about how many times you go to open a cabinet during the process — to throw packaging out, rummage for ingredients and tools ... quite often, I'd bet. This little lifesaver spares your cabinet's handles from getting all grimy and also makes things easier when your hands are full.
Made of sturdy steel with a sleek matte finish, the Cathyeen Cabinet Foot Pull easily attaches to any cabinet or drawer door with a full-overlay design (it will not work with recessed or inset cabinets). You'll want to make sure the door has at least .78 inches of clearance underneath so it'll fit. Assembly couldn't be simpler: Just stick it on with the self-adhesive mounting. You have the option to screw it in if you'd prefer.
Before you start to worry about stubbing your toe while using this thing, rest assured the part that touches your foot is coated in rubber to prevent painful bumps.
Need a bit more convincing it belongs in your cart? Here's what verified Amazon customers have to say.
"This is so helpful when cooking or cleaning and you have both hands full, as you just use your foot to pull the cabinet drawer open," raved one shopper. "Love it!"
"Our cabinet was getting some stain worn off because [we were] always hitting the door with [our] hands when pulling [it] out," explained another. "[This] foot pull will eliminate that."
"Neat toe pull for [a] trash drawer," said a third. "All trash cabinet drawers should come with this product."
"This door pull is well made and nicely painted," wrote a generally satisfied buyer with one qualm. "It seems a bit heavier than it needs to be, though."
"Unfortunately for us, it would require cutting into the cabinet, but it is made of impressively thick material. The rubber pad is a nice touch, the color is good ... it seems [to be a] great value and [is] strong," noted a final fan. "It seems well made and would be fine for bare feet ... If it fit our Ikea trash cabinet front, it would already be installed, but my wife said no to my modifying the cabinet to fit this."
Snag it in white or black to complement — or contrast — the color of your drawers.
And for the insides of your cabinet doors...
Raise your hand if you enjoy the sound of a cabinet door slamming against its frame upon being closed. Anybody? That's what I thought. These little adhesive stickers act as sound dampeners by providing a soft landing pad — plus, they can help prevent scratches. Just peel 'em off and stick 'em on.
"I purchased these to use on my older kitchen cabinet doors and drawers to reduce noise when closing," explained a reviewer. "They are not soft-close doors, so they make a loud noise when they close. I also use them on the backs of items I hang on the walls so the walls remain scuff-free. Very good quality."
