Iris Apfel, legendary style icon, launches shoe line on HSN

Iris Apfel

Iris Apfel

Iris Apfel is a style icon, interior designer, business woman and above all a fascinating character. At 91 years old she is vibrant and an excellent example of personal style. Iris is best known for her truly eclectic clothing and accessories, having been quoted as saying "More is more, less is a bore".

I have been a fan of Iris for many years and am most drawn to her unwavering confidence in who she is and her utter dismissal of what anyone thinks about her.

I am pretty excited to share Iris' newest venture: a line of shoes, clothing and accessories for HSN that she is calling Rara Avis by Iris Apfel. I am especially smitten with all of the shoes in the collection.

Rara Avis by Iris Apfel, mesh flats with studs

Rara Avis by Iris Apfel, mesh flats with studs

These denim/mesh round-toe pumps with gold studs are beyond cute and totally on trend for Spring 2013.

I would wear these with a flirty floral dress or even jeans, a t-shirt and a fabulously avant-garde necklace ala Iris.

Rara Avis by Iris Apfel, suede smoking slippers

Rara Avis by Iris Apfel, suede smoking slippers

I am a makeup artist and a sucker for anything with lips on it. Throw in some sequins and I'm freaking out. I am in love with these beige suede "smoking" slippers.

I could see myself lounging around the house in silk pajamas with these on a lazy Sunday. And then putting them on on Monday with black cigarette pants and a white mens' button-down shirt with layers of pearls.

Rara Avis by Iris Apfel, red studded oxfords

Rara Avis by Iris Apfel, red studded oxfords

Red shoes make me happy. Red shoes that are comfortable, have sparkles and a cute lip-shaped buckle, I'm on Cloud 9.

I could find a million and one reasons to wear these every single day.

Rara Avis by Iris Apfel, suede multi-colored maryjanes

Rara Avis by Iris Apfel, suede multi-colored maryjanes

There is something so charming and whimsical about these multi-colored MaryJanes, they remind me of Birthday cake!

I would toughen them up a little with "boyfriend" jeans and a leather jacket. I might even throw on some girlie patterned socks.

Rara Avis by Iris Apfel, pointy toe striped flat

Rara Avis by Iris Apfel, pointy toe striped flat

These flats are funky and functional. I love the bohemian feel and the cool keyhole detail that shows just a peek of toe cleavage.

Jeans, long skirts, dresses... I can't think of anything these wouldn't look great with. The multi-colored striped fabric would go with anything in your wardrobe.

$59.90 on HSN

Head over to the Rara Avis by Iris Apfel collection on HSN and see everything this amazing style icon has to offer. I can see myself ordering multiple pairs of shoes and don't even get me started on the bags and accessories! I hope that by owning a piece by Iris, that I can absorb just a little of the tenacity that she has for life.

    • Ivanka Trump wants to help the wealthy pay their au pairs

One of the biggest lingering questions about the Donald Trump presidency is the degree to which his campaign shtick of being a working-class populist was an open fraud. So far, all signs point towards "completely." The most recent example comes from Ivanka Trump, who is reportedly the force behind a new plan to provide a tax deduction for child care. As usual for Republican policymaking, it is absurdly tilted towards the rich. Ultra-rich families — like those of the many Wall Street goons stocking Trump's Cabinet, or of the various Trump children themselves — will make out handsomely. But poor and working-class schlubs will get a pittance, if they get anything. The full details of the plan have

Mysterious sea creatures have found themselves at the center of a conspiracy theory that suggests they can predict earthquakes. Several of the massive deep-sea dwellers washed up in the Philippines just before a killer earthquake tore through one of the islands. The little-known bony fish were found ahead of the deadly 6.5 quake that devastated Mindanao Island on Feb. 8. In one instance, a 10-foot-long oarfish washed up onto a beach on the island just two days before, and another was caught by a fisherman. Five more oarfish were found off Mindanao’s northern coast in the days following the natural disaster. It has prompted speculation that the sea creatures are able to “predict” or detect early
