My cousin installs and services appliances for large condo complexes and upscale homes. He recommended this washer, dryer combo to us when we purchased our house. Based on his 30 years in the business, he stated that Whirlpool is the best on the mark...et in all categories that matter. He has been absolutely spot on in his opinions! After more than five years of almost daily use, this pair has performed flawlessly. Unless you insist on your washer and dryer to look like highbrow art in your laundry room, then this may not be your first choice. Not the coolest looking machines on the market, but certainly the best built all around machines available. Read more Less
We bought ours used the machines were about 1 year old got a great deal both washer and dryer are great highly recommend
$1400 though I would get value for the money, but in 16 months high speed bearing was louder than a chainsaw. Cost $500 to fix a problem of which they were aware. Buy a LG and save money and time.
My daughter gave me this set while her & husband were living with us while building new house. I was every day & I love both. I have washed comforters for neighbors & pillows, shoes Great Machines.
We have a large family a use this everyday. Purchase in 2006, had to fix something a year later, then something else another year later. The door handle broke so it's sticky to open the door, water has leaked-out on more than one occasion. Neverthele...ss, for the amount of work this work horse has taken I'm surprised the motor is still functional and I feel it's still a good buy. Read more Less
Great machine. Used hundreds of times since buying the set in '04. Repair needed today and decided to buy another instead. Exact same machine. Going to Sears and Lowe's. Would not have any other.
Bought a Whirlpool Duet GHW9100lw1 brand new back in Nov of 2003 for $1000. After 2 years the water inlet valve stuck allowing water to fill up the tub and leak out through the open door onto the floor. Ruined ceiling below. It was recommended to lea...ve the door open to help prevent mold. Too expensive to fix, told wife to shut water off at inlet valve after each use. After 7 years and 3 months, a bearing on the motor shaft went. A search of the web revealed it to be a common problem costing $600. I will never buy another Whirlpool product. Quality is low. Replaced our old top loader and did a lot of research. The best advice came from a repairmen who said he never has problems with the Duets and his wife just bought a set from Costco. The price and quality were the selling points. Oh, and they clean a...nd dry clothes too. Read more Less
My Parents bought a pair of LG front loaders over 3 years ago and they are whisper quiet! I went an bought a pair of 5 cubic feet Whirlpool Duet front loaders about 3 months ago and they are NOTHING close to quiet. Now i do understand a dryer will ha...ve some noise, but the washer is ridiculous. Even after a tech came out and "tightened" whatever was loose it still is always making noise and almost always out of balance. All this indicates to me is poor quality and not being well put together. Its to the point that if someone asked me if I would recommend these units I would tell them absolutely not! Read more Less
