  • decent package, but not top of line

    ### The DVD-V4800 looked to be a perfect replacement for my 17 yr old JVC, but quality is just not there. Maybe I expect too much for this price range, but the worst part is the TV tuner. It adds noticeable picture and sound noise when used through the...coax output (easily proved by switching TV to VCR tuner on channel 3). The unit does support tuner/VHS/DVD output through the coax/RF out unlike the 4600, but the quality of the signal is not what it should be. Paused video image quality on SLP recordings shows multiple noise bars and is not what I expected for a 4-head player. The old JVC does a better job. Switching channels cause a silent blue screen to flash for a fraction of second instead of a direct change of the channel.Otherwise, we liked the self-programming setup and the INFO function on the remote that not only identifies the channel, but the program title too. The remote is small with closely spaced buttons that all look alike. At least channel and volume are easy to find. With the degraded picture and sound quality, I'm disappointed and returning it, but for anyone not as particular about such things, it is not a bad deal. It seems like a good package for the price. Read more Less
