  • DVP-CX985V

    ### Very nice unit. Obvious advantages to large capacity disk drives. Reads almost any format, and controls are extremely easy to use. Also, display gives user a great deal of information. Unit is very deep, so may hang-out of normal entertainment ce...nter (power supply is mounted on back left of unit). No HDMI output, but component video out is excellent (required for progressive scan). Has numerous outputs to make up for this. Read more Less

  • Sony 300 Disk Players

    By Jean-Claude  Oct 29, 2004

    ### I've owned this player for a year, and I've enjoyed it.It plays DVD, as well as DVD-R and DVD+r (never tried an RW in it). And it performs well. Yes, it can be a bit slow getting from disc to disc, but not any slower then I am trying to load a from the jewel case. The feature I was told was part of this player, that now seems is not is the ability to cascade more then one unit together (see the Kenwood units for that). So now that my collection has grown beyond the 300 capacity, I can't just add the new 400 disk unit and have a work pair (unless I manually turn one off each unit or give up remote). Note however that if you need help with this unit, your pretty much on your own. Sony support was lame, unknowledgeable, and pretty much clueless. All in all, this is a nice unit. I've had few problems with it. It's easy to use, and my wife enjoys programming titles into it. If 300 disks is enough capacity, I recommend it. Read more Less

  • Scrathes DVD's

    By Marion  Apr 16, 2006

    ### I have been using this machine for about 8 months now. It is starting to have some major problems. The movies are freezing all the time. Today I decided to take out my DVD's from the player and put them back in their original cases. There are MAJOR s...cratches on the disks... and they all seem to be alike. Check YOUR Disks... the machine seems to be destroying a lot of them. Right now I have about 30 disks that have the same scratches... and I'm only 1/2 way through taking them out. Read more Less
