Good subject, narrow focus
Movie reveals problems incurred by the modern family farm, especially financial ones. Characters are played well. But the peripheral evil forces (incest, philandering, etc.) we've seen to cloying extremes -- enough already. Surely there could have been a better focus, somewhere. Still, worth a look on an otherwise boring evening. ...

Reminded me of Stand By Me, only a girls' version. I thought the teen angst years played by Ricci, Birch, Hoffman and Aston Moore were poignant, but I was not as equally impressed with the parts played by the older, established actresses. The adults' collective high achievment seemed rather phoney, but the youthful scenes were real and heart felt. ...
