Great GPS; Lousy Radio

Cons: Voice communication is poor. Customer support is poor.
Buy the Rino for a great GPS that communicates position with other Rinos. Don't buy it for its voice communication capability, which really does stink. In the field I carry a Rino for GPS and position reporting functionality and a Cobra GMRS radio for voice communications.
The position reporting seems to have a range of about a mile. It's not clear to me why position reporting works at this range while voice communication is muffled at 100 yards and cuts out entirely at about 1/2 mile line of sight even on GMRS channels.
Customer support is poor; Garmin Tech Support hasn't responded to the couple of e-mail inquiries I've made.
Despite the half-baked radio Garmin crammed into the Rino, I buy them again based on the great position reporting feature.
SUGGESTIONS FOR GARMIN: Fix the voice problem; add a 'polling' feature so I can request someone else's position (Rinos only transmit position when the user presses the 'talk' button; lobby the FCC to allow position reporting to utilize the longer-range GMRS channels. ...
