A stunning portrait of brilliance
Most of the first 4 cds of this collection are filled with raw Evans. My favorite cuts are the solo Evans pieces, which includes Peace Piece. Those cuts make you feel like you are listening to Evans in his home alone on the piano with the lights off.The other 8 or so cds except for possibly the last one can be found on the released albums. But, since this collection is put together in chronological order of studio dates I was able to observe Bill Evans' maturity as a pianist. I was especially moved by the first studio date after Lafaro's death. You can hear his depression.
As a whole the collection is unbeatable. I have yet to get tired to listening to it. ...
