Cornell makes it work
Cornell has been my favorite singer since Temple of the Dog came out. His vocal range is amazing for such a heavy sounding voice. I have never....ever...been a Rage fan...truth be told...I'd rather see Chris quit and go back to Soundgarden...but if this is what he's doing...I'll still buy it. ... -

Good....but hardly their best
I enjoyed listening to the new disc, as I have always been a big fan. Just to give you a base for whay I liked most from them...These Days and Jon's Destination Anywhere have been my 2 favorite releases to date. This new disc just doesn't have the same energy as their previous releases. It is very thick with ballads, not nearly enough rockers. The songs themselves, while good, don't seem very structured. Crush was actually a much better disc.
That being said (because I am very critical of one my favorite bands), this is a good CD. The songs flow well, and several really stick in your head. Jon definitely stayed with his storytelling style of songwriting. His voice sounds as good as always. ... -

Excellent new disc
Kid Rock dug deep to blend a wealth of musical influences in his new CD. The southern rock and country influences show he can actually sing quite well without that stupid Cher effect he used on "Only God Knows Why". The rap/hip hop influences show the theme Kid likes to repeat of few times..."aint a damn thing changed".
Much more singing than rapping when compared to his previous offerings, which I personally liked. Overall, the perfect "next step" after "Devil". ... -

Best Priest in a long time
After Jugulator, I was praying for Rob Halford to rejoin the band...but with the release of Demolition, I'm much happier with Ripper fronting Priest, and Rob Halford fronting is own excellent solo project.
Demolition is much more contemporary in style than Jugulator, though every bit as powerful as you would expect Judas Priest to be. Ripper absolutley wowed me with incredible vocal range and power. Musically, this was also the best from Priest in a long time.
The production was pretty good, contrary to what many here felt. I do believe a good outside producer would stretch the whole band to their potential, and not just Ripper.
The only thing that keeps me from giving the 5th star to this disc, is the very amateur style lyrics(I believe someone else here described the writing as Kiss-like.) Rob Halford certainly maintains the edge in writing, who was much better in using metephors and inneundo in his writing. Perhaps giving a bit of lyrical control to the man that actually sings could help. ...
Very good songs, but pretty mellow
14 of 16 Yahoo! Users found this review helpfulPros: Songs are better than most of his previous efforts.
Cons: This coulda been called Kid Country....Very mellow.
Most of this CD is pretty mellow for Kid Rock. Lot's of country and mellow (like the Eagles) sounding tunes).
